Gathering professions. Go around and gather some herbs or mining supplies for a couple hours, and sell it on the auction house.

If you don’t want to sell your potions and elixirs, how about doing some low level instances for gear and selling that on the AH?

scott I’m married with kids too, so I hear ya when you say…only have playing time when they are not around/gone to bed, so your playing time is limited.

First thing is to set up your characters on your server so that they are more functional and focused, this frees up game time on your main and you will not get as distracted..doing stuff like crafting..etc etc, we all know how easy it is to get distracted in wow, but just like you us married guys cant afford wasted time, so here’s how I set up my charcaters..

Main- pick 2 gathering professions, doesn’t matter which..idea is no time investment, quest, grind, raid whatever and gather up the mats as you play…this keeps this guy focused and playing and in the end gathering nets you big cash..

Main Alt- Deathknight- this guy is your crafter..forget what you have read about like your already doing with herb/alchem, just like you see all those herbs land up making pots..for use in your own raids..which means nothing left over to sell…end result, wasted time and no extra cash to show for it…

Here’s the advantage to the deathknight crafter..he starts at level 55 right, so within a quick gaming session couple hours you can ding that toon to level 60 fast…this gets you into northrend, so if this guys is set up to be a crafter you have access to all the high level trainers without having to spend too much gaming time on an alt..

So now the main farms the mats and the deathknight crafts..

in your example if your main was herb/mining…and your alt deathknight was say alchemy/blacksmith…then ya you still get all your raiding pots for free…and now you can sell off all the ores and craft the titan steel epics, for extra cash.

Add in the muct have low level auction alt, who basically does nothing but buy and sell on the auction house and you have a system set up designed to not only stream line down your play time, but its also designed to make you more gold..

Farming ingredients for cooking recipes seems to work very well.
